Generations

If you haven’t heard of the MOSCOT name before, there’s lots to catch up on - 108 years to be exact!

Established in 1915 by Hyman Moscot, MOSCOT is a fifth generation, family-owned and operated optometry practice and eyewear manufacturer. With humble beginnings on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, MOSCOT has grown to become one of the most recognisable and popular frames around the globe.

During the Great Depression in the 1930s, Hyman’s son, Sol, offered free eye exams, lens fittings and adjustments as a way to ‘pay it forward’ and give back to the community that supported their establishment.

The first time MOSCOT moved locations was in 1934 where the family operated from for over 80 years -  until 2013! During this time, there were significant developments for the family and the brand, including the introduction of their best-selling frame - Lemtosh. From artists to actors, assistants to accountants, the Lemtosh was the frame to be seen in! Its classic shape and distinctive look was first designed in the 1940s and is available in a range of colours such as the classic black and brown shades to crystal clear, pink, emerald green and tortoiseshell. Whether you’re after optical frames or sunglasses, the Lemtosh is a staple piece.

Throughout the 20th century, MOSCOT cemented its name in the optical and eyewear industries with different generations of the family becoming involved in the business. The current CEO, Dr. Harvey Moscot took the helm in 1986 and has opened various MOSCOT locations around the globe and established exclusive relationships with stockists such as OCULA

We are proud to stock a wide range of MOSCOT frames and to be a part of the lifelong legacy that the Moscot family have built. Check out our top-selling MOSCOT frames and be sure to book a frame styling appointment to try them on!
